Introducing Our New Series: Skill of the Month!
We’re thrilled to launch a brand-new series called Skill of the Month, designed to help you develop valuable skills for everyday life. Each month, we’ll focus on a new skill that empowers you with practical tools to face life’s challenges with confidence. Whether it’s for personal growth, safety, or mental well-being, we’ve got you covered.
This Month's Skill: The THINK Principle of Empowerment Self-Defence
We’re kicking off the series with a powerful tool that’s all about self-awareness, smart decision-making, and taking action when it counts: The THINK Principle. It's a central concept in Empowerment Self-Defence (ESD), and it helps guide you through moments of stress or uncertainty with clear, thoughtful steps.
What is the THINK Principle?
THINK is a method designed to help you navigate difficult or even threatening situations by guiding you through a series of mindful steps. It encourages you to slow down, consider your options, and take control. Whether you’re faced with a conflict or a situation where you need to make quick decisions, THINK is here to help you make empowered choices. Here’s how it works:
Breathe – In any tense situation, your first step is to breathe. This calms your mind and body, allowing you to assess the situation clearly and with less stress.
Look Around – Pay attention to your surroundings. Notice the people, places, and things around you. What could be helpful? What are the risks?
Listen to Your Gut – Trust your instincts. Often, your body picks up on signals that your mind hasn’t processed yet. Your intuition is a valuable tool—don't ignore it.
Be Creative – When faced with a challenge, don’t be afraid to think outside the box. There’s usually more than one way to solve a problem or handle a situation.
Act – After considering all your options, it’s time to act. Whether it’s stepping away, speaking up, or defending yourself, this is the moment to make a decision and take control.

Join the Conversation!
Let’s play! We’ve added an image that visualizes the THINK principle, but as you can see, some of the bubbles are left empty. Now it’s your turn to fill them in! We want to hear from you—how would you complete each bubble? In the comments, share how you would apply the THINK principle in a situation you’ve faced or one you could imagine encountering. Let’s get creative and learn from each other!
Don't Miss Our Workshop this Sunday
Want to dive deeper into the THINK principle and learn how to apply it in real-world situations? Join us this Sunday, October 20th for an interactive workshop where we’ll practice each of the five principles together. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, sharpen your skills, and connect with others who are passionate about empowerment and self-defence.
Stay tuned, and we can’t wait to see you there!
